Neko Flies Cat Toy Giveaway

It’s no lie. I love cats. I love them when they are putting their paws in front of the moving rotary cutting tool, pawing at the sewing needle as it speeds up and down and even when they try to eat thread and get mad at me when I take it away. I am always looking for new interesting toys to keep my bratty one occupied when I was told about Neko Flies Cat Toys.

A great website called Cat Wisdom 101 is hosting a Neko Flies giveaway. It ends midnight EST, May 16, 2013 and the winner will be announced on May 17, 2013.

Here is their link. Go check it out!

And here is my bratty cat checking out the top of the door and a sewing project.

Oops I did it again…

I must confess.  I bought more fabric today.  I bought it on-line and am having it shipped to my work.  I can’t help it.  I sold a quilt today using my Moda Hullabaloo Charm Pack and I needed some more fabric to complete it!  However, I did managed to squeeze a couple items in there that are not related to this particular quilt…

Today, I purchased the following items:

Moda Hullabaloo Polka Dot Pastel for the backing and binding.  I purchased 3 yards of this.

Warm & Natural Cotton Batting Baby/Crib Size.  I bought 2 of these even though I only need one…

Fabric Editions Simple Vintage 2.5″ Jellies x 2.  Whoa!  Where did they come from?  Must have been a mistake on my part.  Too late to cancel the order.  I guess I will just have to deal with it and make something from them…

To see the pattern I am using, you can click here to view my previous post.

You Continue to Inspire Me

As I approach 1000 hits, I would just like to thank everyone who has made their way to my blog at sometime or another.  Four months ago when I started blogging, I never would have expected to reach a 1000 hits.  Whoever you all are, you continue to encourage me on this journey and I am pleased as pie to share whatever I can with you.

The floor is almost done.  We stopped because the Mr came down with a horrible migraine and I ended up stabbing my right index finger with a piece of wood and it has swollen to twice it size.  Ouch.  Did I mention I am right-handed?

The throw pillow for the Mr’s mom will be done once the swelling in my finger gets better.  I am managing to type well not using that finger so maybe I can manage sewing and pinning too? Hmm…

I have a baby quilt to quote on.  The purchaser is giving it to her colleague who is due in September.  This issue I am having is the purchaser is requesting it in multiple shades of white.  Neither of us are mom’s however, I feel a plain white baby quilt will not get used too often.  Babies make messes.  They can’t help it.  That’s just how it is.  I would hate having a pretty white quilt with green strained pea stains on it.  Or worse.  You can use your imagination here.  Also, all white is kinda boring.  Aren’t colours and shapes good for baby and helps encourage stimulation?  How do I convince the purchaser to let me run with the design and make something fun and colourful?  Something that can actually be used instead of stacked in the linen closet?

I found this pattern one day while blog surfing.  Yes, we all do it.  It helps us when our brains are stuck for ideas and how to’s and to reiterate that we are not going insane or becoming hoarders with all our beautiful fabric we keep buying.  Here is the picture to the link.

I want to make something like this from the Moda Hullabaloo Charm Pack I have.  Maybe I can convince the purchaser to buy it once the quilt top is complete.  Any suggestions?

WIP Wednesday

Sigh.

As the end of my 4th quilt since March – The Tinkerbell – is here, I am filled with emotions I never expected when I began this journey.  Finishing and delivering 2 quilts in less than a week has somehow made me feel empty.  Now don’t get me wrong.  I am not saying my life is empty.  The Mr and the kitties and the rest of my family are what I live for and they fill me with more joy everyday, but there is a little empty now where the quilts used to be.  They have left me for their new homes and hopefully to be enjoyed for many years.

To fill this empty, I need more projects.  Here is what I have come up with:

  • 2 throw pillows for the Mr’s mom – thinking something like Amy Butler‘s Hourglass Pillows
  • Covered kitty bed with removable washable pillow for Mom’s Maine coons
  • Beach bag
  • Wallet
  • Baby Quilt
  • Amy Butler’s Lotus Quilt

The only bad thing about this is I am on a fabric buying freeze for a little while.  I get to make the Amy Butler patterns, just not with her fabric.  The Mr. has kaibashed me in buying fabric for a little while as we just purchased a new floor, a new used car for me and a new SEWING MACHINE for me.  At least I have close to 300 meters of fabric to work with until I am allowed to buy again and moving from a 40 yr old machine with cams to a computerized machine will take a little getting used to.

Happy Hump Day Everyone.  The weekend is just around the corner.
